Christlieb Siegmund Binder (born July 29, 1723 in Dresden ; died January 1, 1789 there) was a German composer , harpsichordist and organist. Binder comes from an originally Naumburg town piper family , his father Johann Gottfried (1704–1740), was an oboist in the Saxon cadet corps. Binder was probably a band boy and received his training at Pantaleon Hebenstreit . From 1751 he played the Pantaleon in the court orchestra . In 1764, Binder became organist at the Hofkirche , alongside Peter August (1726–1787) , which he remained until his death. Binder's son August Siegmund Binder (1761–1815) also worked as an organist and composer in Dresden; his second son Carl Wilhelm Ferdinand Binder (* 1764) was a harp maker in Weimar .
