About Christian Massive

Artist Name: Christian Massive Birth Name: Kent Johnson Birth Place and Date: Nassau, Bahamas / April 14, 1970 Official Bio Christian Massive started back in 1993, and was one of the first gospel reggae artists on the Caribbean gospel scene. This pioneering group was birthed in the hood of Nassau, Bahamas, when over 300 rude boys surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ almost simultaneously. "We were stupidly on fire," says group founder Kent Johnson as he described the supernatural revival, "All the local news reported on it for days. We walked from place to place singing out loud. We'd spend days on the basketball courts, singing, praying and praising God. Because we were massive in numbers we took the name "Christian Massive". We wrote songs and performed them. As time progressed it was clear some of us were gifted with the ability to sing, chat, rap and dance. We were then encouraged to record our songs, and we've been doing it ever since." What started out as a crew of five evolved throughout the years and eventually paired down to a husband and wife team. Despite their transitions over the last 14 years, the mission of the group has remained the same. Christian massive has recorded nine albums to date. They have collaborated in the studio with artists like Stitchie, Lil' Iroc and Tada. They're memorable live performances have garnered them attention throughout the Caribbean and the rest of the world. They have shared the stage with artists such as Papa San Stitchie, Sherwin Gardner, Mr. Lynx, Landlord, The LOJ Crew, Chevelle Franklyn, Tonex and Out of Eden. Christian massive has toured the USA, Canada, Barbados, Trinidad, Guyana and Jamaica. Exclusive Interview with GospelReggae.com GR: How did you begin doing music? CM: I love singing and chatting from me a lil' boy, reggae in particular, it grew with me and I with it, and here we are years later. GR: Tell me, how did your name come about? CM: Over 300 guys and girls in and around my hood got saved the same time. It was a strange and crazy move of God. It was MASSIVE so the name "Christian Massive" kinda stuck. GR: What has been the greatest mistake that you have made in ministry and learned from? How have you used this experience to change the way you approach ministry? CM: In my early walk I got a young lady pregnant, so now like Moses said "if your presence don't go, don`t send me". GR: If you could share the stage with any Christian or secular artist in the world (living or dead) who would it be? CM: Bob Marley GR: Is there any song that you wrote in the past that you are embarrassed about? Anything that you wish you could make disappear? CM: No, not one. GR: Read any good books lately? CM: Yes, Dr. Myles Monroe's "Purpose". GR: What's your favorite verse in the Bible and why? CM: Colossians 1:16, It points out that ALL THINGS were made by and for God [the devil made no music]. GR: What Bible character do you most identify yourself with? CM: Paul GR: What do you have to say about (or to) artists that started off in the Christian industry (CBA) doing gospel music and now sing secular (mainstream) with a watered down, or ambiguous message? CM: I would as I always tell them, what you say and do must be consistent. If you're out be out and if you're in be in. GR: As Christians, God is of course our true inspiration, but beyond the generic response of "Jesus," what are your muses in your life (for lack of a better word)? For example, what are the people, places, or things that trigger a fresh musical idea and ultimately a new song for you? CM: Experiences, social issues and sometimes just the natural knack to express myself through music. GR: What career goal did you abandon for music? CM: Air conditioning and refrigeration. GR: If you could whisper in the ears of youths aspiring to start a music ministry like yours, what would you say? CM: Be your self. Live pure. GR: Could you please give a message to the reggae fans that are reading this and would like to know more about your faith and who Jesus is to you? CM: It has been 14 years since I've been in the Kingdom, and I tell you not one application of the Word of God has been fruitless. Just as the word says, He is the I AM--every thing I need. Ministry "Nuff youth dem nah know say dem was created by tha Almighty to use their gifts and talents for the Kingdom. They have bought the lie that reggae and other genres of music belong to the Devil. We are called to give them the truth that everything was made by God and for Him"--Kent Johnson, Christian Massive.
