Hailing from the rural background of Southern Illinois, Morgan began performing solo in St. Louis in the Fall of 2007. Beth Bombara (Eyeteeth Records) began accompanying Morgan in June of 2008, contributing background vocals, keys, percussion, and lead guitar among many other musical talents. Morgan is a 2009 Riverfront Times Music Award winner (Best Singer-Songwriter, Female) and RFT Best of St. Louis 2009 winner for Best Folk Artist. Morgan's debut album, the “Pine So Sweet EP,” was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Joey Lemon in Chicago, IL (Berry, Samantha Crain, Caleb Engstrom), and features the members of Berry (Joey Lemon, Matt Aufrecht, and Paul Goodenough), and Lindsey Czechowicz. "Pine So Sweet" was named as one of the top ten local releases in 2008. In June 2009, Bombara joined Morgan in the studio to record the duo's first LP (to be released Spring 2010). Cassie Morgan and the Lonely Pine have had the pleasure of sharing a stage with the likes of Richard Buckner, Pieta Brown, Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps, Alina Simone, Death Vessel, Matt Dill, Ian Fisher, Berry, Sweet Pea, Down with the Ship, and Samantha Crain and the Midnight Shivers.
