About Carmine Fanigliulo
Born in Grottaglie (TA) on the 29th March 1978, Carmine Fanigliulo (musician, composer and arranger) breathed music from the earliest childhood: his father played bass in a cover band in the 1970s. At the age of 7 he started to play keyboards by ear. At school his teacher, Gabriella Pastore introduced him to the study of classical music and in particular the violin. At the age of 14 he started to attend both the Institute of Art (Advertising Graphics) and the musical conservatory “G. Paisello” in Taranto where, under the guidance of Fernando Toma, he got his degree. A multi-talented musician, in the same period he started to play the piano, the perfect instrument to express his great passion for Italian songsters such as Baglioni, Battiato and Concato – the guiding lights of the more intimate side of his artistic talent. His live performances in numerous venues in Puglia have brought him into contact with many other musician friends and it was with a group of such friends that in 1994 he founded the “Gruppo Cameristico BACH” which played live throughout the province of Taranto. In 1991 and in 2001 he took part in the theatre show “Viaggio verso la luna solo andata – Rudolfo Valentino, un mito” (One-way trip to the moon – Rudolph Valentino, a modern-day hero), in which he acted as a viola player alongside Giuseppe Pambieri and Eduardo Siravo, directed by Mario Baldini. In the year 2003 he took part as a viola player in the theatre show “Dall’alba al tramonto” (From dawn to dusk) with the actress Paola Gassman, directed by Rina La Gioia. In the same year, with the Valle d’Itria Orchestra of Martina Franca, he accompanied Lucio Dalla in a concert in the Teatro Nuovo in Martina Franca. 2003 was a particularly full year as Carmine also played viola in the theatre show “Musica tra eros e psiche” (Music: from eros to psyche) with the actress Vanessa Gravina, directed by Rina La Gioia at the Orfeo Theatre in Taranto. In March 2004, with the orchestra “Terra d’Otranto from Lecce, he took part in the TV Oscars, presented by Carlo Conti for RAI 1 and hosted at the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo with special guest Renato Zero. He wrote the music for the Calabresian director Pietro Santagada’s three short films “L’Urlo” (The Scream), “Giorni Sospesi” (Days in Waiting), “Talmente Cieca” (So Blind). He has performed on numerous occasions with the “Tito Schipa” conservatory orchestra from Lecce, with the “G. Paiesello” music school orchestra from Taranto, with the “Antonio Vivaldi” association from Lecce, and with the “Magna Grecia” ICO orchestra. As a viola player he has attended numerous orchestral specialisation courses (in Lanciano, Lecce and Taranto). In the year 2004 he wrote, arranged and produced the highly acclaimed album “Che ora è?” (What time is it?) regarding the figure of the Jesuit Saint Francesco of Geronimo, patron saint of Grottaglie. In 2005 Carmine took part in a series of seminars for the arranging of ‘light music’ (Hope Music) in Rome, guided by Jury Ricotti and Massimo Varini (guitarist for Nek and Ivan Fossati). Since 2005 he has been a musical consultant for the theatrical company “I Senza Vergogna” (The Shameless) with whom, in 2005, he took part in the “V. Gassman” theatrical competition at Castro dei Volsci (FR). Carmine was also one of the finalists in the “Saint Vincent Festival” music competition in March 2006 with his song “Amore che verrà” (Love that will come). His song “Napoli” was top of the Radio Italia 60’s charts for seven weeks in 2006. In March 2006 he wrote the music for the theatre show “L’antenato” (The ancestor), a three-act comedy by Carlo Veneziani (first performed at the Politeama theatre in Genova in 1922). In April 2007 he took part as violinist/actor in the thetare show “Rudolph Valentino – the legnedary emigrant”, a one-act play by RIna La Gioia, with Mita Medici. All these experiences have helped Carmine to develop a natural sense for public relations. A member of the SIAE (Italian Society for Authors and Editors) as author and composer, Carmine is currently collaborating with a number of recording studios as arranger for theatre and cinema productions. Carmine’s new album “Il viaggio” (The journey) is shortly to be released. ___________________________________________ Carmine Fanigliulo is a member of IMIsound Independent Musicians from Italy
