About Carmen Townsend

She sings songs like she tells stories. A true craft that when applied to songwriting creates the kind of magic witnessed in her live show. It’s that kind of magic that has been applied to her forthcoming debut album Waitin’ and Seein’ which finally sees the light of day this winter. Few bands conjure up such a loyal following and praise without having released an album. Carmen Townsend has accomplished this with a naturally crafted, rock & roll sound that echoes Bjork, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jeff Buckley and Led Zeppelin at it’s most eclectic. With a highly original vocal and guitar approach that you quickly find yourself familiar with, Carmen Townsend has a presence that fills the room when delivering one of her buzzy solo performances or when accompanied by her band. Inspired and electric both in sound and lyrical impact, her words conjure up the highs and lows we all experience in life while at the same time chronicling her own story through captivating songs. Recorded at Carriage House Studios in Connecticut and at Soundpark Studios in Cape Breton, Waitin’ and Seein’ was co-produced by Gordon Gano (Violent Femmes) and Warren Bruleigh (Jane’s Addiction) and mixed in true hard rock fashion by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Aerosmith). Just wait and see.
