In 1987, Carlos Santana jokingly suggested to former Weather Report saxophonist Wayne Shorter that they spread a rumor that they were putting a jazz fusion band together. A few months later, Shorter and Santana began a 26-concert tour of the US and Europe. A recording of this band's performance in Switzerland at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 14, 1988 was released on a dbl CD collection. The set list included reinterpretations of Santana material like his Grammy winning composition Blues For Salvador, and songs from Shorter's storied career like “Sanctuary,” a tune which originally had appeared on Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew..
