Carlos Julio Ramírez (born August 4 1916, Tocaima Ontario - died December 12 1986, Miami Florida) is probably the most famous bariton Colombian ever. His musical carreer started on the ships that crossed the river Magdalena, where he sang for a few coins for 9 years. On one of his travels he met the conservative politician Laureano Gómez. Astonished by Carlos Julio's voice, the politician enrolls Carlos for singing lessons by professor Emilio Murillo of the boarding school of the Salesian Community in the city Bogotá. At age 12 Carlos Julio Ramírez debutes on the radio, on the program "The voice of the victor". There he meets teacher Efrain Orozco, who takes him on his first musical tour through South America. As an adult, Carlos Julio Ramírez was a big succes in the world of music. The Hollywood producer MGM decides to employ Carlos Julio in the early 40's. At MGM Carlos Julio works on seven motion pictures, including the famous production Siren School.
