Candice Chantrell’s debut album “Behind the Mic”, featuring Candice’s smooth and expressive vocals, is loaded with energy and lyrical conviction that infuses elements of R&B and Pop with flavours of Hip Hop, Rock, and Funk. “Behind the Mic” features a variety of lyrical tones written & arranged by Jesse Peters ("Lounge MD” from Paramedic) and co-written by Candice Chantrell. The release has an overall theme of empowerment while exploring the concepts of independence, personal strength, and pursuing your dreams. Candice recently relocated to Toronto from Edmonton after being selected as the recipient of the Rawlco Radio 10k20 Production Grant and has been lucky enough to have her debut single “Down to the Disco” currently appearing on radio playlists throughout Canada and has signed a publishing deal with Sound of Pop/ole which distributed the debut album throughout Canada via Fontana North/Universal Music Canada in the fall of 2009.
