About C£M£NT

From http://tighttothenail.com What do you get when you put outstanding members of the UKHC community, some of whom are responsible for keeping the scene a forward thinking and progressive movement, in the same practice room? Well, you get Abba references, dialogue from Todd Solondz films, nods to Carry On, Earth Crisis rips, and the heaviest, thickest, most moronic bludgeoning mosh-metal that's advisable to subject yourself too. You get C£M£NT. And so, much like the sublime level of idiocy in a Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker movie, it seems that it requires brains to write stuff this stupid. When scholars look back on the decline of western civilisation, will they point to C£M£NT as the catalyst? No, probably not, but they'll definitely agree that they're the musical accompaniment. C£M£NT is the soundtrack to humans eating their young. To pigs fucking each other, covered in their own shit. The soundtrack to apes caving in skulls with the bones of their enemies. The soundtrack to stacking shelves at the One-Stop. Essentially, they sound like what happens when your Acacia Strain record gets stuck in a groove and skips on a chug part for 10 minutes. There are beatdowns on top of beatdowns on top of beatdowns. Mosh parts have their own mosh parts. And those mosh parts? They too have their own mosh parts. Followed by a beat down. They are the soundtrack to banging your head against a brick wall. The soundtrack To spin kicking against an oak tree in the middle of a field, wind gently flowing through your hair. Much like a road traffic accident, it's hard not to be transfixed. When I first pressed play, I listened to it for almost 3 hours straight. Just looping around and around. It's a mesmerising whirlwind of ignorance. A hypnotising, brain numbing lesson in dunce-core. You could almost begin to offer it more introspection and admiration that it probably deserves. I began to find closing track 'Breaking Edge Is Never Easy To Do…' almost moving, with it's heavy handed clean parts, audio samples and devastating explosion of violence towards the end. I started to think, I started to examine, I started to feel. That's when I knew it was time to turn it off. Well, after I'd listened to 'Are You Going To Eat That' one last time and screamed along “YOU'RE JUST A PUP, IM THE BIG DOG, TIME TO MAKE LIKE A TREE AND FUCK OFF”. Just one more time can't hurt, can it? This record is of absolutely no redeeming social or artistic value whatsoever. You will get stupider just listening to it. You will fully regress during its brief running time, forget how to spell, shit into your pants and stare blankly out of the window, your glaze fixed. All you'll be able to think is “thank heavens I put this on repeat”.
