About Byron Allen Trio

Byron Allen didn't make a major impact on the '60s free jazz scene, but made one intriguing album for ESP in 1964, using the trio format with bass and percussion. After a lengthy absence, he reappeared in 1979 with another trio release on the Interface label. His solos were aggressive, searing and reminiscent of early Ornette Coleman, though not as accomplished or memorable. Byron Allen - Sax (Alto) Maceo Gilchrist - Bass Theodore Robinson - Percussion
