Burt Goldstein is a Movie music composer specialized in in big orchestral and choral works, used in drama, adventure and romantic comedy. Most of his works aren't available to the general public, but can be heard in a wide variety of trailers, tv-shows and movies. EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND • Ph.D. in Music Composition and Theory from the University of California at Los Angeles. Dissertation: “Why Does Stravinsky Always Sound Like Stravinsky? Serial Stravinsky and Style Analysis” • National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship, at the Schoenberg Institute under Leonard Stein, wrote a paper: “The harmony of Schoenberg’s Ode to Napoleon Buonaparte” using a set theory approach. He served as president of the Independent Composers Association, a non-profit corporation devoted to producing concerts and promoting the work of local composers. He has been published in Perspectives of New Music, Electronic Musician, the L.A. Reader and Keyboard Magazine. He has been the technical editor for several Prentice Hall Que publications. Wrote “Tutorial: Arranging String Sections” for the recent release of Steinberg’s Halion String Edition, Vol. 1 He has composed, arranged, performed and produced music for commercial projects for: ABC; A&E; Columbia Tristar Home Video; CNN; Disney; Dreamworks; Fox; HBO; MGM; Miramax; New Line; TNT & TBS; Universal and Warner Brothers, and has arranged for Phyllis Diller and John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
