About Burning Ambitions

"Burning Ambitions began circa 1991 in Quakertown, PA. The band was Doug, Chris, and Eric, three new wave/punk fans in an area still dominated by old Chevy Novas and hair farmers. And they were not even an hour north of Philadelphia. They did basement practices, high school talent show stuff, the usual. I met Eric at a flea market in spring of 1992 and he told me about the band. They played their first punk/hardcore show in June of 1992. They had a softer style, kinda emocore without the crying. They did their first demo in the summer of 1992. Two songs from the demo, "Kim" and "I Am a Child" were released as a single on the Chicken Farm label (from NJ). "Enzymes" could be their most notable song. It appeared on the FOE cd comp called GET THE HELL OUT in early 1993 (www.foe.firstpress.net). All those songs were recorded as a four-piece band. Chris sang, Doug played guitar, Eric bass, and Greg (not me) on drums. Greg left the band in the spring of 1993 and Chris returned to the kit. He kept singing, too. They recorded more songs for a split ep with Sinatra '65 (Motherbox Records) that came out in 1994 and "Charles Meredith" went on First Last in '96. The band was effectively done by 1994. Chris and Eric were in college, Doug was playing with Ox and Kisses and Hugs (Chris, too, when he was back on breaks). As stated somewhere in an insert from some record, both Doug and Chris went on to become members of bands that terrified and delighted people in and out of Pennsylvania. Eric got his degree and lives in Philadelphia working, going to shows, etc." -Greg
