About Budspells
Budspells stem from Aotearoa & Australia. When Kye [vocals & songwriting] first met Ant [beats & production], it was at a shabee/dub dancehall party in Sydney in '02. Their likeminded taste in music & their common NZ upbringing created an immediate bond. They conceived a project that would incorporate their love of soul, dub & hip hop hybrids ~ Budspells. During '05 Budspells caught the attention of Salmonella Dub's Andrew Penman & thus, joined the Dub Conspiracy tour in April, with acts including Fat Freddys Drop, Kora, Shapeshifter, Cornerstone Roots, Concord Dawn etc. Since then they've performed in AK & recently at the awesome Kaikoura Roots Festival & also return to NZ to support Salmonella Dub on their April South Island tour ~ to help them celebrate the release of a wicked double disc 'best of".
