About Boris Titulaer

Boris Titulaer (Venlo, 3rd October 1980) (a.k.a. Bo-Rush & Bo Saris) became involved with music from a very young age. His father, Gé Titulaer, is a well-known jazz musican and teacher at the renowned music academy in Amsterdam. At the age of 17 Boris attended the Music academy in Maastricht. But instead of concentrating on music-theory, Boris focused on getting his voice out there. In 2001, he becomes part of the band Sofuja (which stands for Soul, Funk and Jazz). Sofuja becomes very succesful in Spain. In 2003 Bo-Rush decides to participate in the dutch version of American IDOL and Pop Idol in the U.K. (American Idol in the US, Pop Idol in the U.K. and Idols in the Netherlands is a format created by 19Entertainment where they search for the ultimate Superstar. Audience records were broken in the USA, UK, Germany, Australia, The Netherlands, South Africa, Poland, France and to name just a few. Local versions of the format have aired in more than 30 markets, making it one of the World's biggest and most successful TV formats. Winners from around the world have gone on to become successful artists, having generated several multi-million selling acts around the world) So Bo-Rush believes it's a perfect platform to present his talent to a larger audence. Bo-Rush wins the Dutch IDOLS very easy because of it's impressive first audition until the shimmering final it was very clear that Bo-Rush had every ingredient to become a large STAR. Influenced by soulartists such as Prince and Michael Jackson, but also through predecessors such as Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway. After the impressive performance at IDOLS, Bo-rush records his debut album in three weeks called "Rely on me". It's debut album "Rely On me" exists from retro soul with funk - and jazz influences, with contagious poptracks and as a clincher a superb version of Donny Hathaway's "For All we Know" The head role was put aside for the recognizable, soulfully and flexible voice of artist Bo-Rush. His voice is incredible, he doesn't only sing very soulfully, but he shouts, kirts, whispers and seduces. He worked with three different production teams for the album. Such as the producers Eric van Tijn and Jochem Fluitsma and writer, producer and singer Llewy is Sel (leadsinger of the dutch hip-hop band "Relax")and Bart Possimus (bass player of Relax) Bo-rush was involved in all facets of his debut-album: selecting and writing the songs. He even selected the production team and the musicans. So he could eventually create the correct feel that he believes and nourishes. The album reaches Platinum in the first week. The First Single "When you think of me" lasts several weeks on the first position of the Dutch pop charts. It is the 600 number 1 hit of the Dutch Charts. The single has been sold more then 80,000 time and becomes a platinum status. In July 2004 Bo-rush sang a duet with Angie Stone for Music channel the BOX. The Videoclip with Angie Stone becomes the most viewed and requested videoclip in history on music channels such as MTV, TMF and The Box. The second single "My special Girlfriend" becomes a top ten hit on the Dutch pop Charts. In July 2005 Bo-rush produces a hit single with hip-hop band "Relax". The single named "Relax ft. Bo-rush - No sunrise" ends up in the TOP 10 of the Dutch pop charts. In January 2005 Bo-rush starts writing for his second album.
