About Boogie Patrol

Boogie Patrol is a Blues, Funk, Soul band from Edmonton, Alberta. After creating a serious buzz on the lips of Edmontonians in the know, these diverse musicians have branched out to play more of Western Canada and are continually impressing crowds, both old and new. Showcasing the talent of Alberta's own "Rotten" Dan on harmonica and vocals and Nigel Gale on bass, Boogie Patrol brings funk back to its roots alongside Japan ex-pat Yuji Ihara cranking out jaw-dropping guitar solos and Sean Grieve tickling the ivories 'til they're numb. Holding court behind the kit is Chicago-born Edmonton resident Jeff Lisk, backing the beat like nobody's business. Boogie Patrol leads to you a place of good lovin, combining mind-bending guitar, keys & harmonica solos with a rhythm section that you can't help but move 'n' groove to. These boys stay true to their name and take letting loose to a whole new level. BIO Boogie Patrol has been pumping out their unique blend of Blues, Funk, Soul and R&B across Western Canada since 2007, captivating crowds wherever they go. "I'm HUNGRY" were the two little words that started it all one auspicious afternoon at the seminal Blues on Whyte in Edmonton, Alberta. Hungry to play music, hungry to play the BLUES, Boogie Patrol's harmonica hound "Rott'n" Dan and accomplished guitarist Yuji Ihara quickly joined creative forces and began collaborating. They soon enlisted the help of experienced bassist Nigel Gale to hold down the low end. With the addition of Sean Grieve's tantalizing touch on the keyboards, and JJ's orchestration of Blues, Jazz and Funk into Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and African drumming styles, Boogie Patrol's distinctive style slowly evolved and now entices even the most hesitant dancer onto the floor. These five virtuosos of their craft unite to create a sound, an emotion, a chemistry that is incomparable, and with their mind-bending solos and tight grooves, Boogie Patrol prides itself on the ability to connect with audiences from all walks of life. Boogie Patrol have played hundreds of shows since their inception, having headlined numerous festivals, including North Country Fair, Pembina River Nights, Beaumont Blues Festival (Alberta, Canada; 2009 & 2010), Sasquatch Gathering (Alberta, Canada; 2010), and Wild Oats & Notes (Alberta, Canada; 2010, 2012). In 2011, Boogie Patrol had the honour of opening for both The Fabulous Thunderbirds as well as Blues legend Buddy Guy, both in Calgary and Edmonton (Alberta). 2012 proved an exciting year for the band: after playing the Saskatoon Blues Fest in February, their second album "I Try & I Try But I Don't Know What to Do, the Plan Was Set Some Time Ago & We Must Follow Through" (Independent Release, August 2011) took home "Blues Album of the Year" from the Edmonton Music Awards 2012 in April. August marked a milestone for Boogie Patrol, having been invited to play the 20th Annual Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival, the largest and most diverse festival in the Interior of British Columbia (Canada), receiving standing ovations at both their performances on the CBC Blues Stage. In early October, Boogie Patrol won the Memphis Bound Blues Competition in their hometown, which took the band to Memphis in January of 2013, representing Edmonton and Western Canada at the Blues Foundation's 29th Annual International Blues Challenge. Most recently, the band was nominated for a Maple Blues Award, Canada's national blues awards program for 16 years running, in the category of "New Artist or Group of the Year". With their ventures into Eastern Canada and the United States, Boogie Patrol look forward to extending their travels and playing for new audiences across North America. Although rooted in blues, the sound of the band crosses various genres but Boogie Patrol stay true to their name and take letting loose to a whole new level. In the words of Ric Hall, guitarist for Buddy Guy: "Boogie Patrol is off the hook! They're on fire! __________________________________________________________ BAND MEMBERS Keyboard player Sean Grieve tickles the ivories. Guitarist Yuji Ihara melts your face.
