About Bob Salmieri Bastarduna Quintet
Bob Salmieri Bastarduna Quintet is an ensemble created in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. Bob Salmieri gathered around him, at due distances, a large group of musicians, old and new acquaintances, to create a project dedicated mainly to his new book "...and mum did belly dancing" and the next one in progress "Sister Jumps through fire". The music is soon recognizable in the Mediterranean and Eastern influences dear to Bob in his many past ventures; thus, they combine classic jazz instruments with others little known to the Western audience such as the Tambur and the Baglama, stringed instruments typical of the Turkish musical tradition. Several guests participated and are still collaborating on the writing of new songs.
