About Black Alley Screens
Decky McKay met John Markey on the first day of school. They kicked each other under the table all the way ‘til Year 7. Markey went on to meet Kyle Haughey in secondary school. Although there was no kicking this time, the three of them soon become inseparable. Bored with Irish small town life, Decky bought a battered encore Stratocaster, Kyle took up the bass, Markey discovered the drums and so Black Alley Screens was born. The boys came of age and moved to Glasgow, where their sound, straddling indie, grunge and mod; a bastard lovechild of The Vines and The Jam if you will, became a popular fixture on the city’s gig circuit. With an EP produced by Mark Freegard (production credits on The Breeders’ Cannonball) under their belts, the band are taking their new material on the road and will soon be appearing at venue near you.
