About Billy Rivers

Billy Rivers was a blues guitarist and song writer from Glasgow/Scotland who tragically died in hospital on the 1st of April 2000 after a house fire in his home. he was mainly a local artist and never quite hit the big time and so is not really known. we wrote and produces all his own songs which were about his life and experiences and friends. he released two albums, one on tape called Shades A Blue, and one CD called Different Shades Here is a list of tracks (from the CD Different Shades) and descriptions in Billy's own words. 1.Mindblown(1979) "A tale of how i failed to reach my destination, but in returning maybe i found my destiny" 2.If You Had A Reason(1980) "A song about being left in ignorance of the reason behind the departure of someone held dear" (P.S. what was it? the drinin', B.O>,bad breath, or anti-social behavior and habits, as it sure as hell wasn't another woman, 'cos she swore blind she never told another soul) 3.Sleepy Eye(1981) "an instrumental about an imaginary railroad stop somewhere in the new mexico desert" 4.Ballad O Willei McRae(1987) "The song no one else seemed to want to write" 5.Reasons(1989) "Why?" 6."A" Theme(1982) "A personal challenge to my own abilities as a song writer" 7. Bust Knuckle/Burnt Toast Blues (1979) "Me and my acoustic playing two instrumentals back to back. the first being about a personal injury sustained whilst welding a van, the second was inspired by a womans cooking" 8.Wait'n'see(1982) "Always full of promises and good intentions" 9.Leavin(1992) "Inspired by two of me closest friends, Dougie and Mop(Kilmarnock bike breakers). when Dougie and myself went for a beer or three, and forgot the way home, mop would pack his bags, though since then the big man started getting ahead of the game by packing them himself" 10.Fadin luv(1983) "This song is about the eventual realization that everything in the garden was not rosy and what i thought i had, in fact turned out to be just a foolish dream" 11.a Celtic Lament(1986) "Although i have a deep love and respect for my country's culture, heritage, language and tradition i grew up in an area where Gaelic wasn't spoken nor taught and traditional Scottish music was very seldom played, so this is a song written by a contemporary Celt about contemporary issues and views according to my own personal feelings and beliefs"
