About Benet Casablancas
Benet Casablancas was born in Sabadell, Spain, (near Barcelona) in 1956. Considered to be one of his generation's leading composers, he studied composition in Barcelona with Josep Soler and Antoni Ros-Marbà and in Vienna with Friedrich Cerha and K.H. Füssl. Casablancas has received many commissions and his work has won many prizes. He also lectures in theory and Musicology in which he has a doctoral degree. He was awarded the Premi Nacional de Música of the Generalitat of Catalunya in 2007.
