About Beat The Dutch

Beat The Dutch was formed in 1979 by Richard Knutson, Mark Foley, Tony Kaye and Matt Jacobs. Active in the Minneapolis underground until 1982 when they disbanded. This period produced 2 live recordings, 2 studio demos and a set of sound experiments part of which can be heard on EPs Blackberries, Don't Send Me and Clubhouse 1982 Starting in 1988 Beat The Dutch reformed just for recording as opportunity arose. These recordings were done on 4-track tape decks in basement studios around Minneapolis, currently unavailable. A 16-track studio project took place in 1994 at The Pagen Opium Den in South Minneapolis. Though never considered finished, the best of these sessions can be heard on The Complete POD Recordings. In 1995, Tony Kaye and Richard Knutson formed Flooding Opera, disbanding by the beginning of 1997 with the release of Richard's first Plum Flower Embroidery CD "Inhale" More info at PFE DISCS
