About Battey

ASCAP’s award winning Seattle based national performing blues, soul singer and guitarist Lawrence BaTTEY serves up a delicious mix of heavy electric blues, soul, jazz, and funk. The band’s throwback mentality and style of the late sixties has three generations of fans breathing a sigh of relief and asking for more! The music is timeless; you can’t tell if it was recorded in 1969 or 2011! With songs like “Every Time I See Your Face”, “Fusion”, “Summer Highway”, and “Stormy Monday” (T-Bone Walker) you get a soulful taste for what this band is all about. This power trio of A-list of musicians is the fresh new face to an old style of music that is best experienced through their live shows that will take you on a euphoric improvisational roller coaster ride that has soul, integrity and pure prowess on all instruments. With a rhythm section made up of Berklee School of Music graduate Chris Carlson on Drums and NYC’s Bass Collective graduate Jeff Brumley on Bass the band is tight and on a level that is reminiscent of the icon bands, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Band of Gypsys, CREAM, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and The Allman Brothers. With the release of albums “dirty dale” and “Live In Seattle”, performing over a 100 shows, and radio play on FM and Sirius XM stations, Lawrence has made his way onto the music scene as a prolific writer, producer, and musician. As he sits on a stock pile of 70 copyrighted songs that have a unique blend of honest soul torturing lyrics, haunting funky upbeat landscapes, eclectic in the pocket riffs, and fat textures that bare a soul and story of a man dealing with the everyday life of the human condition, music lovers wait with anticipation for to the release of his upcoming album “Rolling Stone”. The albums title track (a tribute to the folks of the small rural town of Monmouth, Oregon where Lawrence grew up) is filled with lyrical goodies and a heavy funky backbeat and hooky riffs that permeates throughout the entire album. “Lawrence BaTTEY combines the passion of Jimi Hendrix and the technical expertise of Stevie Ray Vaughn. The “Live in Seattle” album is a must-have and their shows will blow you away!” Jennifer Harriman - KOMO News Radio Seattle, WA “BaTTEY rocks! Their musicianship and music is superb and Lawrence’s guitar work is as good as it gets.” Bob Rivers - Bob Rivers Show 95.7 FM Seattle, WA
