About Bamboos, The
The Bamboos are an Australian deep funk and soul band hailing from Melbourne. Formed in 2000 by guitarist/producer Lance Ferguson, the band has gone through several lineup changes over the years, but Ferguson has remained a constant presence. They initially drew inspiration from the raw funk of the late 1960s and early 1970s, but their sound has evolved over time to incorporate elements of hip-hop, psychedelic pop, and even symphonic arrangements. They are also known for their tight musicianship, infectious grooves, and powerful vocals, particularly those of their longtime singer, Kylie Auldist. The Bamboos have released eleven studio albums to date, including their most recent, "This Is How You Do It" (2023). They have also toured extensively, both in Australia and internationally, and have built a reputation as an exciting and dynamic live act. They have been nominated for seven ARIA Awards (the Australian Grammys) and four APRA Songwriting Awards. Their music has been featured in numerous films and television shows, including "Crazy Stupid Love" and "Grey's Anatomy." Biography written with the help of AI. 2. The Bamboos consisted of members Russel Hopkinson, Mark Gelmi, Craig Hallsworth, Greg Hitchcock. The band is chiefly remembered today for the number of ex-members who have gone to feature prominently in high profile Australian acts.
