About BURUKLYN BOYZ

Burukulyn Boyz (stylized in all caps) is a duo rap group consisting of Mr. Right (born Malvin Ng'ang'a) and Ajay (born Jayson Ochieng). The name "Burukulyn" is borrowed from the BuruBuru Estate (Nairobi, Kenya), where they were raised. They consequently used the tagline "Tano Nane" (Swahili for Five Eight) taken from Buru's local code 58 alongside their other tagline "Kwani ni Kesho!" (Swahili for "Is it tommorrow!" :Think live a day at a time.) Some sources point out that the rap group consists of 5 people with Right and Ajay as the faces. The other members here are Luizy, Young Louie, and Dencho. The group emerged in 2020 during the rise of drill music in Kenya, exploring 808 rap beats and UK drill. The music is localized featuring raw energy, urban slang, rhythmic intensity, and storytelling. This format captured young listeners (Gen - Z) and propelled the rap group alongside other rap groups.
