About B.B. & The Stingers
B.B. & The Stingers was formed seven years ago by Guitarist, Bernie Brausewetter (aka B.B.). B.B., who first started playing in bars and clubs in the Metropolitan Area at age 16, has become a "legendary fixture" on the New Jersey music scene. He began by cutting his teeth performing at local dances and fraternity parties at nearby Rutgers University at age thirteen (13). His success began at age 18 when he took to the road with Silverhoof on a tour that lead them throughout the Midwest and the South with ex Ohio Express and Sugarloaf members who produced hits together in the 1960's. B.B. worked for Producer, Tony Camillo (Gladys Knight; Midnight Train to Georgia Fame) at his Venture Studio Complex, while playing extensively throughout the New York - New Jersey club scene with Doug Rykin & Midnight and Rivendell. In the 1980's B.B. founded Attaboy, which played the original music club scene explosion in New Jersey and won the WDHA song contest in 1984. Currently, B.B. has been working with Glen Burtnick (A & M artist, Styx reunion member and writer of Patty Smythe's hit Sometimes Love Just Aint Enough) on a project called The Slaves of New Brunswick which released a record on Performance and is played in rotation on WNEW, KROCK, WDHA and WPST promoting it locally in New York and New Jersey. You may have seen B.B. filling in for The Nerds (New York and New Jersey's phenomenon last summer) or playing with Paul Reed Smith at the Hard Rock Cafe, or maybe you saw his expertise put to work at Sam Ash Music Stores' Guitar Seminars throughout the Metropolitan Area. BB is currently the host of Orphan Annie's Sunday night open jam seesions. Orphan Annies is located in Stirling, NJ. Along with B.B., the members are: Bassist, Bill Cherensky (a veteran of the New Jersey music scene having played with blues greats such as Sonny Rhodes and Frankie Lee, as well as New Jersey notables Trash Mavericks. Billy also performed on the Slaves of New Brunswick record). Drummer, Bob Butterfield (highly revered in New Jersey, Bob has worked with New Jersey notables Edgar Cayce Band and Prophet as well as Polygram Recording Artists N.Y.C.). Bob is also the proprietor of Butterfields (a 24 track recording complex in Red Bank, New Jersey. No matter how you've experienced these legends, it is evident that their true love is for the Stingers, an idea that was long overdue. B.B. & The Stingers' roots lie in traditional blues to blues rock influences of the late 1960's. Combined with today's guitar pyrotechnics, their individual mastery puts this trio in a class by itself. As of October, 1994, B.B & the Stingers boasted an 800 name mailing list and climbing. In August, 1993 the band released its self-titled CD album, produced and recorded at Butterfield Studios. They also produced a music video along with industry-renown photographer/music video producer, Mark Weiss. Mr. Weiss also had music videos of Skid Row and Black Sabbath in rotation on MTV. By March, 1994 B.B & the Stingers signed a European deal with WEA through Skalde Music in Germany. In September, 1994, the CD was released in Germany and gained distribution throughout Europe. The Stingers toured overseas in November - December, 1994 in support of this release. Ever conscious of their extensive stateside following the Stingers are presently organizing to further expand their influence in the United States. At present, the band is exploring options for a return tour regionally in the New York metropolitan area and is looking to achieve national prominence by the end of 1998. Throughout 1997, the band continued to expand their overseas influence by (1) maintaining ongoing contact with their growing fanbase in Europe and (2) looking to establish contact with the significant Japanese markets, which is believed to harbor a substantial craving for "Stinger" music. In '97 The Stingers completed their 2nd CD and it is due to be available by January of '98. Also look for B.B. & the Stingers on "Attack of the Killer Surf Guitars" (Beloved Records, Released June '97). Their song "Slowburn" is currently in rotation on WFMU. Also appearing on that album are Dick Dale and The Smithereens. For Bookings and Merchandise, call 908-757-2641
