About Armed Response Unit

Armed Response Unit are a Crust-Thrash band from London. They were formed in 2005 and recorded their first 7" "No Point Calling The Cops" with Seamus Defcon Zero on vocals, Kiara on bass, Seedi on guitar and Nick on drums. After Nick's departure Seedi asked his friend Ben if he wanted to join. Seedi was at that time vocalist in Palehorse with Ben and had also been in the band Abjure who had long before done a split EP with Ben's old band Kneejerk. Ben was also the former drummer in Million Dead. Once Ben joined the band started gigging heavily in the London D.I.Y./squat scene and went on a short tour with Palehorse and Red Stars Parade which was shortened when Ben broke his knuckle in Lincoln. ARU recorded their second 7", a split with Black Eye Riot which was entitled "Peace off." The band then embarked on a large tour of Europe with The Short Bus Window Lickers and returned to record a third 7", another split-this time with Deathskulls entitled "Like music but faster" which took the band in a more thrashy direction. In the summer of 2008 they again embarked on a tour of Europe, this time on their own. Stylistically ARU take a mish mash of old clichés in hardcore, punk, thrash, metal and grind and slap them all together in a way that whilst humerous, is not ludicrous and then play it as fast as they possibly can. If you go see them, then try and catch them again six months later for the faster version. They call their style RIOTCORE.
