With a seven-year journey, the Brazilian alternative rock band Applegate blends influences from modern alternative rock, 90s grunge, progressive rock, and indie pop. Their sound is guided by a rhythmic and organic Brazilian essence in the way that the arrangements are built. Their second album, Mesmo Lugar, is an anthology that takes the listener through eight different scenes, each with unique aesthetics and creative approaches. It was recorded, produced, and finished by various professionals, a diverse process where all paths converge into one place, creating a single, authentic, and reference-rich sonic universe. The album reflects the internal and external changes the São Paulo-based quartet experienced in recent years. After the buzz from their debut album in 2019 (Movimentos Regulares) and a slowdown caused by the pandemic, the band regrouped and reached a sonic maturity that comes from a moment where all members were aligned in the direction this new project would take.
