Apes of God is an experimental band whose music combines elements of art music, such as spoken word and music concrete, and popular music to produce a sound that is generally described as very distinctive. The Apes of God's lineup consists of Jason Gibbs, who serves as both a composer and multi-instrumentalist; Gilbert Marhoefer, who serves both as the band's lyricist and art director; Myles Boisen, a student of Rober Fripp, who is a guitarist who performed in the jazz improv group, The Splatter Trio; and drummer John Hanes, who has been involved with new wave bands such as Chrome and Pearl Harbor.
