About Aoki Yutaka
青木裕 (Aoki Yutaka) was a guitarist, composer, and a former member of downy, VOLA & THE ORIENTAL MACHINE, and unkie. He was diagnosed with leukemia in January 2018, and passed away in March 19, 2018 at the age of 48. Born on the 29th of Jan, 1970 in Hirakatacho, in Ibaraki Japan, Yutaka Aoki moved to Tokyo at the age of 18 to attend Design college for 1 year. Upon graduation he found himself being drawn more and more into the world of music. He has been in various bands such as Downy, Vola and The Oriental Machine before leaving to devote more time to his own band Unkie in 2009. He now fronts Unkie and is the sole songwriter for his band whilst collaborating with other artists such as Leo Imai. Yutaka Aoki also was a talented artist and designer. Cover art for Unkie's albums and singles are all by Yutaka Aoki as are the flyers for all Unkie events. In 2017 he released his first and only solo album "Lost in Forest" with guests like SUGIZO, MORRIE and Kaoru (DIR EN GREY).
