About Andrew Weatherall & Ivan Smagghe

two true visionaries of electronic club music going back to back. In one corner we have Andrew Weatherall who has worn a lot of hats in his career: Pop-star producer, Balearic figure-head, electronic experimentalist, peerless explorer of the minimal techno sound, rockabilly enthusiast and the original moody DJ. His history goes back to the beginning of the British acid house scene and stretches through a string of legendary London clubs such as Blood Sugar, Circulation, and of course Sabresonic. It was through Primal Scream that Andrew first made his name however, as the producer of the generation defining 'Screamadelica' album, which fused narcotically challenged rock and acid house. And Andrew's collaborations with the radioactive Keith Tenniswood as Sabres of Paradise and later Rotters Golf Club were only marginally less influential. In the other corner there is Ivan Smagghe, a native Parisian who gained notoriety as a radio DJ and founder of the electro duo Black Strobe. Always looking to push the boundaries of electronic music he has played residencies in clubs such as Fabric and Bugged Out as well as the legendary, now defunct, Parisian club Pulp. Running the label Kill The DJ for over a decade, Smagghe has more recently completed remixes for the likes of The xx as one half of production duo It’s A Fine Line.
