And They Whisper in Silence are irrefutably schooled in all things La Bradford, Stars of the Lid, Godspeed and Workhouse, these atmospheric cinematic scores deftly utilise the loud / quiet dynamic to its full potential - the swells, the surges, the gear changes, the tension and the ability to orchestrate mood changes at the drop of a hat is simply sublime so to the point that we are surprised that neither Club AC30 or Bella Union have come calling yet. Six tracks are showcased here - not to be confused as mere background music, such is their ability to drag and tear you through the whole spectrum of emotions throughout the duration of each cut it leaves you positively drained and dumbstruck. From the turbulently frenzied volcanic eruptions dissipating into storm passing serenely calm climates as found on the achingly bruised and lonesome 'as heaven look upon us' to the beautifully distant Codeine like slo-core build of '17 secs to the death of the sun' with its tear provoking arpeggios that slowly but surely soon assume critical mass so that by its climax the consuming intensity is akin to a sonic black hole - the world of And They Whisper in Silence is all at once tender, turbulent, caressing, crushing, tormented and tragic. All said and done in our humbled opinion the chiming corteges a la Yellow 6 like 'narrating a tale' runs away with the set - lullingly mellow, thoughtful and delicately crafted albeit crushingly morose and irrefutably hurt.
