About Ambitstream

Eugene Kholyavkin, also known as Ambitsteram, was born in Ukraine in the early 1980s. His father, a Soviet military man and a music enthusiast with a collection of recordings by artists such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Michael Jackson, and others, instilled a love for music in him from an early age. His older brother gave him his first guitar lessons. With the fall of the Iron Curtain in the early 1990s, the first pirate cassette recordings entered post-Soviet Ukraine. Inspired by genres such as Trance, Rave, Acid House, and Drum & Bass, Eugene began his initial attempts at creating electronic music on a computer using software like Impulse Tracker and Cakewalk. In the mid-2000s, he performed as a guitarist in several musical groups, with the most notable being the funk-rock band Pink Pong, which won the audience's favor at the Rock-Sich Festival in 2006. Simultaneously, Eugene continued to record tracks and vocal songs in his home studio, experimenting with various genres, instruments, and software. However, the results of these recordings rarely extended beyond his home. His inspirations during that time included Radiohead, Bjork, UNKLE, AIR, Jamiroquai, Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, and many others. As the popularity of MP3s and compact discs grew, Eugene's music collection expanded its genre range from Intelligent Dance Music, Electronic, Ambient, Downtempo, House to Classical music, Funk, and Jazz. In 2010, he joined forces with other music enthusiasts to create the online internet radio station Radiolla.com, which continues to broadcast high-quality music to this day. In 2019, with the advent of COVID, Eugene decided to take his music career to a new level and pursued music education, taking courses in Ableton Live, sound synthesis, mastering, and more. On February 24, 2022, during the military invasion in Ukraine, Eugene was in Egypt. After some travels to different countries, he temporarily settled in Spain on the island of Gran Canaria. Gradually, as he reassembled equipment and instruments for his studio, he continued to work on his music. In 2023, he released his first tracks on streaming platforms. Currently, Ambitsteram works in genres such as Ambient, House, Techno, and also participates in live acoustic projects.
