Alta Fidelidade

About Alta Fidelidade

Electronic music project created in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Alta Fidelidade is one of the first Brazilian Electro-jazz / Nu-jazz band. In the nucleus of this band are bass player and programmer Mano Bap and the producer André Bourgeois: their passion for electronic music united them with the objective of bringing Jazz and Brazilian music for the new generations. Bap is a master in conception of the mixture between electronic and traditional music, where he is a multi-instrumentalist and one of the founding members of the Central Scrutinizer Band (Zappa Cover), as well as a well-known bass player in Sao Paulo. Bourgeois is an electronic music producer, founder of the Urban Jungle Label, and of the compilation "BPM". Alta Fidelidade (3000 copies sold in a few month) had their first release in Brazil in 2004, by Urban Jungle Records, and in France by Iris Music. A fusion between Electro-acoustic textures and rhythms, influenced by recordings by Eric Truffaz, Alphex Twin, St. Germain, and Kruder & Dorfmeister. Alta Fidelidade updates through a meticulous production Jazz and Brazilian rhythms. When Alta Fidelidade performed live, the sound grows and takes on new dimensions. This sound is atteind with the combination of eight musicians, which together with a computer and a sampler machine, a saxophonist , a trombonist, trumpetist, percussionist, drummer, keyboards, guitarist, and bass, create an electronic "big-band" which conquered the admiration of the public and musical critics. A modern trip in trhe heart of latin-jazz and electronic music which resulted in more than 150 shows between April 2003 and August 2004. Nu-Jazz? Maybe, but freer and more nervous than the stile would suggest. Electronic music? Possible, but spiced up by the performance of these excellent musicians of the new Funk-jazz scene in Sao Paulo. Brazilian Music? For sure, but with a new dimension, having the objective of taking advantage of the originality of the Brazilian urban culture, with its tradition of incorporating traditional melodies, rhythms, and modern textures. Throughout their first year, the band attracted an eclectic audience, all fascinated by the different sound. From the Paradiso (Amsterdam - Holland), to the pre-opening show of the Chivas Jazz Festival 2003 (Sao Paulo), and renown Sao Paulo houses, Bourbon Street (which has hosted performances by Ray Charles, Diana Krall, Ron Carter, John Scofield, Kenny Garett and more), Grazie a Dio!, Supremo Musical, Na Mata Café, and Urbano Club, Alta Fidelidade continues to attract new admirers. Today, Alta Fidelidade plans on maintaining itself present in the Latin Jazz universe, and reinforce its potential as one of the leaders if the Nu-Jazz movement, offering improvised rhythms and explosive improvisations, projecting Brazilian music into the new century!
