About Almendra Kovac

Almendra Kovac is the artistic name of Gisella Valenzuela, who was born in Curicó, Chile, in 1978. Her music career started in 1998 as a backup singer for big names in the Chilean vocal scene such as Myriam Hernández. It was during this period that she adopted the stage name Almendra, under which she'd release her album "De Música y Alma" in 2009. The album was initially planned in 1998 when Almendra had met Frano Kovac from the salsa orchestra Santiago All Stars, whose last name she adopted for her pseudonym. Almendra currently performs independently for marriages and private events.
