About Allison Iraheta
Allison Iraheta (born April 27, 1992) is an American singer who gained prominence as the fourth-place finalist on the eighth season of "American Idol". Prior to that, she won the Telemundo singing competition "Quinceañera: Mamá Quiero Ser Artista". After "American Idol", she signed a recording contract with 19 Entertainment and Jive Records and released her debut album "Just Like You" in 2009. She later became the lead singer of the band Halo Circus. Iraheta was born in Glendale, California, to Salvadoran immigrant parents. She is the youngest of three children. She began singing at an early age and started formal vocal training in 2001 at the Los Angeles Music and Art School. Before achieving wider recognition, she performed locally, including appearances at retail events and community concerts. She attended Animo Ralph Bunche Charter High School and studied with performance coaches Pepper Jay and John Michael Ferrari between 2004 and 2009, during which time she also performed with the band Ferrari and Friends. In 2007, Iraheta won "Quinceañera: Mamá Quiero Ser Artista", a Spanish-language reality singing competition featuring teenage contestants. She performed songs in both English and Spanish throughout the show. Although she received the grand prize, including a recording contract, the agreement was not finalized due to legal issues, and the production was subsequently discontinued. In 2009, Iraheta auditioned for "American Idol" in San Francisco, performing "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman". She advanced through the competition and was noted by the judges for her vocal ability and consistency. During the semifinals and finals, she performed a range of songs including "Alone", "Give In to Me", "Blame It On Your Heart", "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone", "Don't Speak", "I Can't Make You Love Me", "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", "Hot Stuff", "Someone to Watch Over Me", and "Cry Baby". She also performed the duet "Slow Ride" with fellow contestant Adam Lambert. Iraheta was eliminated on May 6, 2009, finishing in fourth place. Following her elimination, Iraheta made several television appearances and participated in the "American Idols Live! Tour 2009". She signed with Jive Records and 19 Recordings and began work on her debut album. "Just Like You" was released on December 1, 2009. Its lead single, "Friday I’ll Be Over U", was released earlier that year. The album debuted at number 35 on the Billboard 200 and sold approximately 32,000 copies in its first week. A second single, "Scars", was later promoted through television performances. In 2010, she joined Adam Lambert’s "Glam Nation Tour" as an opening act. Later that year, she was dropped by both Jive Records and 19 Entertainment following the album’s commercial performance. After a period of reduced public activity, Iraheta returned in 2013 as the lead vocalist of the band Halo Circus, which also included Matthew Hager, David Immerman, and Valerie Franco, later replaced by Veronica Bellino. The band marked a stylistic shift in her music. Halo Circus performed live shows in Los Angeles venues and signed with Manimal Vinyl. They released the single "Gone" in 2013 and a cover of "Do You Believe in Shame?" in 2014 as part of a tribute album. Their debut album "Bunny" was released in 2016, followed by "Robots and Wranglers" in 2018. The band toured smaller venues in the United States between 2016 and 2018. In 2019, Halo Circus disbanded following Iraheta’s personal and professional separation from Hager. In 2020, Iraheta returned as a member of the band Fuhm, alongside former Halo Circus collaborators Matteo Eyia and Brian Stead. The group released the single "Send Out the Clown" in October 2020. In 2025, Iraheta performed as a backing vocalist in Kelly Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency "Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions".
