About Airports.

Airports. was a project based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 2008 - 2009. Not much is known about them other than a quote from Karan Sunjay Rampall (DJ "The Brekky Shift" On WKDU 91.7fm) along with the members listed on their bandcamp. "Introducing Evan Bernard, Peter Martin, two childhood friends who, together create music in the city of paternal affection. Along the road, they teamed up with Greg, Nick & Kaytee who reflect the current lineup. Their synth based songs are lined with textured keyboard playing, vocal harmonies, sparkly melodies, timpani's and horns all over the place willy nilly. Like Schrödinger's cat, Airports exist inside and outside different musical territories… yet all of them at the same time. Ambient-Pop-Punk anyone? Other bands still recovering from art school and aping the no-wavers would call this post-modern. However, the magnetic Airports duo create music in a straightforward manner, lacking the pomp and high-mindedness that afflict the circuit of experimental indie bands recording today. Evan, Greg, Kaytee, Nick, and Peter create music for the pure joy of it, where their indie experimentalist contemporaries would burp and bemoan their obscure artistic endeavors with aerobic-chic American Apparel sweatbands to match. In contrast, these Airports kids don't sweat the the b.s.; they are sincere and capable. Airports's naturalistic tendencies set them apart from the typical indie fare fans have come to accept as the norm: loud, "new", edgy, proto-classical and post-anything. On stage, you'll witness something rudimentary and basic, friends having a good time while playing casiotones for the uninitiated. The music speaks for itself and it says "come hang out, lets be friendss! Want some cocoa?" By the end of the show, the two friends will stow their instruments in cubby-like receptables and fly away into your future fantasy life to reside there forever!" ~ Karan Sunjay Rampall (DJ "The Brekky Shift" On WKDU 91.7fm) https://airports.bandcamp.com/album/demon-of-the-riffs Airports. is/was/always: Peter Martin Greg Mendez Kaytee Della Monica Alex Cramer Nick Holdorf Evan Bernard Other Players/Thanks: Charlie Peck - French Horn on Owls Kyle Press - Alto Sax on Owls Kyle Graham - Sax on Owls Ashley Woodruff - Tuba on Owls Alex Corvo - Trumpet on Owls Jen Fantastic - Trombone on Cars Peter Helmis - Vocals on Whale & Iceberg Josh Beaver - Being Rad Chris Baglivo - Being Rad Kyle Applegate - Art/Rad Tour Bro Sealions & The Owls were recorded and mixed by Mike Smedes at Drexel Studio A sometime in early 2008 Cars Drive By, Pirates, and Whale & Iceberg were Recorded by Jon Baken, Brian Glasset, Mike Smedes, Kyle Pulley, Chris Baglivo and Evan Bernard in The Drexel Band Room, Headroom and various places in Early 2009, Mixed by Mike Smedes This Is My Favourite Day In A While was recorded by Chris Pollock and Evan Bernard in Drexel Studio A & C in early 2009, Mixed by Mike Smedes, Kyle Pulley helped with Production
