About ARBEID ADELT

Arbeid Adelt! was a Belgian new wave band formed in 1981 by frontman Marcel Vanthilt and Jan Van Roelen. Their music style is hard to define. It's a mix of absurd punk and electronical beats. "Ik sta scherp" and ""Schuld, mij treft geen ..." were their first two songs. They first got noticed on a Belgian TV show in 1982 when they performed one of their songs called "De dag dat het zonlicht ...". Another Belgian singer, John Terra, had a song with the same name and although it wasn't a cover of his song Terra was offended by the lyrics. This fuzz gained the band notoriety among Belgian audiences. A third member joined the band, Luc Van Acker, and together they produced their first EP named "jonge helden". The most famous song from this EP is "Lekker westers". After a second album, Luc Van Acker was replaced by Willy-Willy (The Scabs) and Danny Klein (Vaya Con Dios). After an argument with their record label, the band split. Frontman Marcel Vanthilt became a VJ for MTV. In 1991 the band got back together, got a deal from Virgin and released a new CD. Again, this album wasn't a great success and the band split up again. The 3 members went on to write music and work for TV.
