Apocalyptica is a Finnish symphonic metal band from Helsinki, formed in 1993. The band currently consists of three classically trained cellists: Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso. Originally formed as a classical-style tribute band to Metallica, Apocalyptica later developed a neoclassical metal sound that does not rely on conventional guitars and bass. The band has sold over four million albums worldwide.
