About Airi Ojamets

On the 8th of November year 1977 borned babygirl named Airi Viil. Airi's childhood passed playing between Lasnamäe's "beautiful" panel-houses. Her interest towards music araised already in kindergarden. She was often leadsinger of kindergarden's choir. When we look at the schooldays, Airi joined Tallinn's 13th Highschool music-class when she was in the 7th grade. She sang there till 10th grade, when she went to another school. Her secondary school was spent in Tallinn's 1st Eveningschool, where she met also her future husband. 1996 was the year, when she graduated Highschool and when borned her first son - Oliver (17/11/1996). She got also married before the birth of her child with her schoolmate Alar Ojamets, and the new name became Airi Ojamets! Airi's first band was named "V8", where her husband Alar Ojamets played drums. This bands success concluded only concerts in Aruküla and one column in magazine "Meie Meel". Serious success to Airi came when she joined with band Los Desperados, which was created by three serious country-music fans - Ivar Kannelmäe, Pikk Nilson and Dimka Dmitrenko, in march of 1996. New 4 headed Los Desperados collected many fans around them. These fans got finally a band to themselves who played country-music and they could also dance line-dance with this music. And then they created also "Estonian Country Club"! Beside the fact that Los Desperados collected fame between listeners, Airi's face and name became famous on August of 1996, when there was a concert of Rolling Stones in Estonia. Airi was only lucky one from few people, who had a change, thanks to her Rolling Stones "Bridges of Babylon" tour T-shirt, to party with world-famous Rolling Stones. Week before the stars came to perform on Tallinn's Lauluväljak, Los Desperados did a Rolling Stones "promo"-week in bars & pubs in Tallinn and they got also singular "Bridges of Babylon" tour T-shirts because of that. When the world-start came to their Hotel Palace suite, they look out of the balcony and noticed one girl standing thare with their tour T-shirt. And they knew, she was a fan! All this wild musicians life, what became with success, lead to divorce after few-years of marriage. But because the name Ojamets was already well-known, she did not take back her maidenhood name, but continiued with name Airi Ojamets. Many years of living a single-mother life, she found again a true love from her old friend Indrek. From relationship of these two, borned second son to Airi - Silver (27/11/2001). And now when they have built a family and a home together, you can see that family (not officially) Ojamets-Hinno is still in happy relationship. And this spark will not extinct not so soon! Band Los Desperados hasn't been so glorious with recordings. Only thing they have recorded is a single "Too Blue to Cry", which includes two songs - "Give, Give, Give" & "It's Got Nothing to do With You". But still Airi have perpetuated her voice on many albums of other Estonian artists. For example 2 duets on Koit Toome's album "Puudutus" (with whom she had a album tour around the Estonia), duet with Ivo Linna on his album "Iff1", a track with Kirsipuu, Kasesalu & The Rockin' Guys on a album "ELVIS Live(s) in Estonia" and a track on a Kersti Kuuses christmas-album "Kauneim Kingitus". Nowadays Airi is performing with many groups. Beside Los Desperados she performs with band NightStar (where plays Toomas Vanem - guitar, Agu Kotkas - bass, John - syntheziser and Masurtchsak - drums) on a cruise-ship "Romantika". For smaller events she got a duo with Viljandimaa's musician Indrek Järvekülg. Also Airi is trying some solocareer. She has an excellent composer Raid Liiver who wrote also a hit-single "Truly Mine", which was a hit in TV-show "7Vaprat". Lets see can we tell soon that Airi is like Estonian Tina Turner??? Anyway - "Per Aspera Ad Astra"!!!
