About A Delightful Journey: The American Steamboat

A Delightful Journey was A Folk Punk band from Allentown PA, it had various members ranging from 10 to 2 at points. Started by Dan Molloy in September 2008, ADJ played their first show on Halloween 2008 as an Against Me! cover band. being well received they set to work writing originals and by November had lined up another show playing with The Speakeasies at Dylan Molloy's birthday party. As the first snow fell on the roads of Allentown, ADJ was using electric instruments and a drum machine. A live recording of this show was made and is still available somewhere. After this show, Dan Molloy made the decision to switch to acoustic instruments and ADJ rotation was shaken up a bit. The band continued throughout the winter of 2008 and 2009 playing various house and basement shows with The Speakeasies along with a few exciting performances during the band's lunch period at William Allen High School. Notable shows from winter include Alex Hoffman's house show with Presbyterian Fart & The Speakeasies, and a series of Shore Shack & The Wildflower Cafe shows with Panty Waste & The Speakeasies. Around this time A Delightful Journey made a demo tape of their new sound that leaked on the internet and can still be found on the Amateur Porn message boards. A Delightful Journey played few sporadic shows in the spring and during the summer of 2009 A Delightful Journey: The American Steamboat dissolved, though talks of a posthumous LP are floating around. The band made few recordings in their day, but various Demo recordings and Live tapes exist of the band, along with a few videos. Members included Dan Molloy on guitar, Dan Wasko on bass guitar, Nick Lalik on Harmonica/Saxophone, Joey Martin on Banjo, Nick Bitner on percussion, Sam Kazlas on percussion, Nick Noda on cello, Ryan Anderson on Uke, and Dan Bauer on Keyboards/Melodica
