IN EVERY LIVING THING THERE IS THE DESIRE TO BE FREE You can bring a horse to water but you can't make it drink. A Horse Named Friday is a chamber folk group from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, which began as Jo El-Deek’s solo songwriting project in August 2023. Their songs were originally inspired by a search for answers to questions of their own human and inhuman nature. Soren Stokholm was the first addition to the group, starting on guitar but later picked up mandolin and banjo. Emma Thorne joined the group on double bass and Shak Hens on violin. Prior to their first tour in November 2024, they were joined by Erika Bruulsema on piano and Willa Coward on drums.
