About 43 Cambridge

43 Cambridge are: Raymond Thompson - Vocals & Harmonica Rob Vermeulen - Guitars & Backing Vocals Garry Thompson - Guitars & Backing Vocals Brad Standing - Bass Guitar Ben Lawrence - Drums & Madness The story so far..... 1996: Four young men leave the security of their rural upbringing in the south western town of Walpole. They rent a house in Leederville and searched for a drummer. So began the journey.... In 1999 they joined a group of bands playing weekly at the now demolished Swanbourne Hotel with other upcoming Perth acts including The Sleepy Jackson, Nathan Gaunt and Jon Butler. In the years that followed they have established a reputation as one of W.A.'s hardest working bands by touring the country relentlessly, playing 120 shows a year around Perth and regional W.A., as well as three Eastern States tours taking in NSW, Vic and SA. Rock is the best word to describe the band's style, however, the songs can be very diverse at times. They perform their own original material along side songs by the world's greatest bands from the sixties to now, and a bit of blues thrown in when the time is right! Live, the band is a high energy outfit and larger than life, with vocalist Ray commanding attention with oodles of attitude! Garry and Rob add backing vocals. 43 Cambridge are experts at reading the crowd and tailor a set to fit the mood/vibe and size of a room. Having played for 18 years together, 43 Cambridge are a tight and solid unit. 43 Cambridge also record their own albums and have released five to date; * The Gathering 1998 * Mindversion 1999 * Too Fast For Blues (Live) 2001 * Prank Monkey 2003 * Shed The Skin 2007 The band has had radio play on Triple J, RTR FM, ABC, Fremantle Radio and numerous other community stations around the country. 43 Cambridge have played with a vast array of bands over the years including You Am I, Jimmy Barnes, Spencer Tracey, Ian Moss, Mental as Anything, Jon Butler, The Waifs, Ed Kupper, The Sleepy Jackson and Eugene Hideaway Bridges. They have appeared at the Fremantle Blues & Roots Festival, The Bridgetown Blues Festival four times and hundreds more shows around Australia. One thing is for sure, they look forward to performing for you soon! Facebook: 43 Cambridge Website: 43 Cambridge
