About 10 Minute Warning
10 Minute Warning (named after the amount of time an average person will have before an incoming nuclear missile will hit their city) was an American underground rock band, active in the early 'pre-grunge' scene of Seattle, WA, United States. The band is a footnote in the history of Guns N' Roses because future GN'R bassist Duff McKagan was in the group. Formed in 1983, following the demise of The Fartz, with Paul Solger (of The Fags ) on guitar, Blaine Cook on vocals, David Garrigues on bass and Duff McKagan (of Fastbacks and The Fartz) on drums, but he moved on to guitar when Greg Gilmore joined. In 1983 Blaine left to join The Accused. He was replaced by Steve Verwolf. David and Duff also left in 1983. They were replaced by Daniel House (of Feedback). In 1984 the band went into the studio to record their first album, but it remained unreleased at the time. In late 1984 Paul and Greg left. The band broke up and everyone went their separate ways. Greg Gilmore went to Los Angeles where he met back up with Duff and played a few shows with Road Crew. He later moved back to Seattle and played with Skin Yard, Mother Love Bone and many others. Duff McKagan picked up the bass in Guns N' Roses. Daniel House went on to form Skin Yard and become the owner of C/Z Records. Paul Solger played in Meddaphysical and also co-wrote the Green River song 'Rehab Doll'. In 1996, after an eleven year break, the band got back together with new vocalist Christopher Blue, but with David, Duff and Greg. In 1998 they finally recorded a self-titled debut album, released on Sub Pop records, produced by Jack Endino and with Charles Peterson doing the photography. The band broke up that same year. 2021 saw the release of This Could Be Heaven: The Lost 1984 Recordings, on C/Z Records.
