About ...and then nothing
…and then nothing specializes in sprawling soundscapes, majestic swells and infectious rythms. Founded by Derrick Finch and Stéphane Oystryk (AKA Pretty Grizzly) in 2003 and hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, the band has collaborated with over 12 different musicians over the years but has settled on a definitive 7 piece line-up: Derrick Finch (bass), Pretty Grizzly (guitar), Eric Gosselin (bass), Nadia Gaudet (vocals), Danielle Burke (vocals), Zef (drums) and Ivan Burke (drums). Influenced by such bands as Do Make Say Think, Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, …and then nothing has managed to forge a unique sound within what is most commonly referred to as the “post-rock” genre. Although …and then nothing’s live performances are relatively rare, when the opportunity arises, the band’s incendiary stage show is not to be missed. Often augmented by an experimental film display, the performances are always intense visual and aural experiences. …and then nothing contributed a song titled “Late November, Northern Michigan” to the Winnipeg Parks and Recreation Authority compilation released by Conifera Records in 2005. The band will be releasing their first self-titled album on December 28th, 2009. http://www.myspace.com/andthennothingmusic
