About Schiller

Schiller is a German electronic music act formed in 1998 and named after the German poet and dramatist Friedrich Schiller. The project was originally a duo consisting of Christopher von Deylen and Mirko von Schlieffen. Around 2001 or 2002, von Schlieffen left the project, after which von Deylen continued Schiller as a solo act. Schiller received the ECHO Award in 2002 for Best Dance Single of the Year for "Dream of You" and has sold over seven million albums worldwide. Vocals on Schiller recordings are typically performed by guest artists, including Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil, Samu Haber of Sunrise Avenue, Sarah Brightman, Moya Brennan of Clannad, Midge Ure of Ultravox, Andrea Corr of The Corrs, Colbie Caillat, Sarah Howells of Paper Aeroplanes, Ben Becker, Peter Heppner of Wolfsheim, Xavier Naidoo, Arlissa, Maya Saban, Kim Sanders, formerly of Culture Beat, Ana Torroja of Mecano, Tarja Turunen, formerly of Nightwish, Despina Vandi, Alexander Veljanov of Deine Lakaien, September, Pierre Maubouché, Nena, Meredith Call, Yulia Sanina of The Hardkiss, Marian Gold, and 8Kays. Schiller was formed in 1998 by Christopher von Deylen and Mirko von Schlieffen. Their first single, "Das Glockenspiel", was later remixed by DJ Tiësto and re-released in 2001. The debut album "Zeitgeist" was released on 19 August 1999 and combined elements of ambient trance and chillout music. It was followed by "Weltreise" on 30 July 2001, which included the single "Dream of You" featuring Peter Heppner. Differences in musical direction, with von Schlieffen focusing on trance and von Deylen pursuing a broader electronic style, led to the duo’s split after "Weltreise". The third studio album, "Leben", was released on 13 October 2003 and included the single "Leben... I Feel You", featuring Peter Heppner. Additional vocalists on the album included Maya Saban, Sarah Brightman, Alexander Veljanov, Kim Sanders, and Anke Hachfeld. The fourth album, "Tag und Nacht", followed on 28 October 2005 and featured contributions from Mike Oldfield, Moya Brennan, Kim Sanders, Jette von Roth, and Thomas D. The fifth studio album, "Sehnsucht", was released on 22 February 2008 in multiple editions and formats and achieved gold certification. An international version titled "Desire" was released on 26 May 2008. The sixth studio album, "Atemlos", was released on 12 March 2010 and reached number two on the German Albums Chart, with its English-language edition also charting internationally. The single "Try" featured Nadia Ali. The seventh studio album, "Sonne", was released on 5 October 2012, followed by "Opus" on 30 August 2013. The album "Future" was issued on 26 February 2016. Schiller’s tenth studio album, "Morgenstund", was released on 22 March 2019 and included collaborations with international artists. In 2021, Schiller collaborated with Alphaville on a new version of "Summer in Berlin", originally from the album "Forever Young". In 2023, the studio album "Illuminate" was released and reached number one on the German Albums Chart. It was followed by "Euphoria", released in January 2026, which featured collaborations with Yulia Sanina and 8Kays.
