Akiko joined おニャン子クラブ (Onyanko Club) in 1986 and released her first solo single "麦わらでダンス" in May of 1988, following the dissolution of Onyanko Club. She has released 9 singles, 2 studio albums, an album of holiday music, and 4 compilation albums as well as contributing to Onyanko Club.
