About 子門真人

Masato Shimon is the (main) alias of Masaharu Fujikawa (藤川正治), formely Japanese singer, songwriter and music producer. Born in January 4, 1944, he is mostly known for his contributions over many decades to many various anime and tokusatsu series. As he considered himself his singing career as a part-job, he did not sign an exclusive contract with any record company: that being the reason why he has many aliases with many companies, making his works difficult to compile, as the songs copyright holders were numerous, until the release of the "Masato Shimon Vocal Compilation" CD series, a joint project between Nippon Columbia, VAP, Pony Canyon and Sony Music Entertainment. His other aliases includes, among many others: 藤 浩一 (Kōichi Fuji, used when being a kayōkyoku singer with Nippon Gramophone/now Polydor between 1966-1967; sung with this same name after coming out of retirement from the industry in 1971) 谷あきら (Akira Tani, used for some tokusatsu shows between 1972-1973) 大安蓮 (used for the anime "Karatebaka Ichidai" in 1973 and "Hokuto no Ken 2" in 1987) サタンタ (Satanta, used when being occasionally a composer and a vocalist at the same time). "レッツゴー!! ライダーキック" (Let's Go!! Rider Kick"), the theme song for the 1971 tokusatsu show "Kamen Rider", was his first hit, selling over 1,3 million copies, thus setting his path to return to singing for numerous anime and tokusatsu shows. After leaving Fuji Music Publishing (which he joined in 1968) for Tsuburaya Music Publishing in 1972, and serving as a head of music management for the company, he eventually got to sing many theme songs for various Tsuburuya Productions' tokusatsu shows. "およげ! たいやきくん" (Oyoge! Taiyaki-kun), a children's song for the children's show "Hirake! Ponkikki", and released by Shimon in 1975 with Canyon Records (now Pony Canyon), is his most successful work of his career, as the single, being sold over 4,5 million copîes, became the best-selling song in Japan, a record certified by the Guinness World Records. The single is also the first one to debut at the top of on the Oricon charts, and to have remained at number one for 11 consecutive weeks. Shimon recorded the song with only 50,000 yen (~170 dollars, given the exchange rate at the time) as a guarantee. He retired from the industry at the end of the 1990s and has since been seen rarely whether in public life or on television shows, where their interview requests are refused.
