About 上村建也

Tatsuya Uemura (上村建也 Uemura Tatsuya, born June 23, 1960) is a Japanese arcade game composer and programmer. Of his most famous works is the soundtrack to Zero Wing, popularized by the “Engrish” translation of the game’s script which has resulted in his song, Introduction (Part 1), to be used as the background music to the popular parody “All Your Base Are Belong To Us”. After Toaplan closed its doors in 1994, Uemura joined the Toaplan offshoot-company Gazelle as a director. In 1999, he joined 8ing/Raizing (another Toaplan offshoot) as a programmer. Games he has composed music for includes Flying Shark, Tiger Heli, Hellfire, OutZone, Twin Cobra, Dogyuun and Zero Wing (with 弓削雅稔/Masahiro Yuge and 富沢敏明/Toshiaki Tomizawa). In 2006 he contributed a remix for "The Lunatic: Ibara Remix Tracks", a remix album for Toaplan offshoot Cave's shoot 'em up Ibara.
