About 万波麻希

Maki Mannami was born in Osaka in Japan in 1977. She started playing the piano at the age of 3, dancing at the age of 5, writing poems at the age of 8, playing the drums at the age of 13, and vocal training at the age of 17. She lived in NY to study musical theater when she was 19 after she dropped out Osaka Art University Performing Art Course. She sang gospel in a church there, appeared as a chorus dancer in Off-Broadway and as a jazz singer in a cabaret. She has collaborated and released works with various artists in the club music scene, contemporary dance scene and movies. She has been developing many ways of using her voice not only singing standard songs, but poetry reading and vocal performance using 4th octave range of the voice with effects. In her solo works, she writes the music, lyrics, and arrangement, plays the piano, as well as handling the vocals and programming.
