About ウヨンタナ

Wuyontana (烏雲塔娜, known as ウヨンタナ in Japan) is a vocalist from Inner Mongolia. She moved to Japan in 1987 to attend Showa Women's University. She began her musical career in college. Throughout her college years she provided vocals for a number of high profile projects including performing at the national 1990 Spring Festival Gala in China, and performing a theme song composed by Yôko Kanno (菅野よう子) for an NHK TV series about China. After receiving her graduate degree in 1995, she focused primarily on her music career, providing theme and insert songs for a number of Japanese animated series (Card Captor Sakura, Shamanic Princess, Betterman, Macross Plus). She also released two full length albums during this time, ホルチン (1998) and 天の壁 (2001). In 2002 she moved to Shanghai and went on hiatus until 2010, when she restarted her music career, as well as pursuing other artistic interests such as writing and fashion design.
