ひとひら (Hitohira; "thin piece of paper etc.") is a Japanese 4 piece indie rock band from Tokyo with influences from math rock, emo and shoegaze. They formed in 2021 . Members: Vocals & Guitar: 山北せな (Sena Yamakita) Guitar: 古宮康平 (Kohei Furumiya) Bass: 吉田悠人 (Yuto Yoshida) Drums: 梅畑洋介 (Yosuke Umehata) History: Formed in 2021, the band consists of Sena Yamakita (vocals, guitar), Kohei Komiya (guitar), Yuto Yoshida (bass), and Yosuke Umebata (drums). Their songs are tightly structured but emotionally charged, often shifting between raw energy and dreamlike calm. In 2022 they self-released two EPs followed by their first full album つくる (Tsukuru) in 2023 which was released on Oaiko on CD and vinyl. In September 2024 and September 2025 they toured China (2024: 2 dates, 2025: 3 dates) together with その感激と記録 (Sono kangeki to kiroku). In September 2025 they also announced that their new album 円 (En) will be released on November 12th via パーフェクトミュージック (Perfect Music). They also announced their tour "hitohira en tour 2025-2026" with 9 dates across Japan. The two-man tour features bands like österreich, downt and yonige. In October 2025 they played a gig with 雪国 (Yukiguni) at 東京キネマ倶楽部 (Tokyo Kinema Club) called "Oaiko presents. " これまでとここから"". The album explores the idea of cycles, everyday repetition, and human continuity. Musical style and influence: In interviews, the group reflected on songwriting and the dialogue between generations in Japan’s indie scene. They emphasized a desire to create something “honest and unguarded,” drawing from both classic and contemporary influences.
